evor1
2005 subaru legacy 2.5. What parts do I need to do this? Are there crush washers that I need for any of the drain plugs/filler plugs? Anyone know what sockets are needed for the front and rear? I've seen videos online where its a square and the other is a torx? Edited September 12, 2022 by evor1
1 Lucky Texan
loosen the fill plug on the rear BEFORE the drain. I used a floor jack on the handle of a 1/2" breaker bar. some gear lube comes in squeeze bags now but, when I did the rear, I used a pump kinda like this;
forester2002s
Not what was asked, but here's a useful tool for oil-filling: You can often find a Turkey Baster at low-cost at dollar-stores. Useful for filling or topping-up of rear-differentials. And can help with adding oil down the dipstick-tube of some manual transmissions.
1 Lucky Texan
oh, the torx you may need would be a T-70, same crush washer as eng. oil (20mm ?) local parts store or amazon, etc.
