kahoona
Hi I have a 97 Legacy 2.5 auto and I just changed the air and fuel filters. I didnt disconnect the pump or anything I just put a jar under the outlet line and pulled off the hose. I caught the gass in the jar and disposed of it since it was dirty looking. I connected the hoses to the new one and clamped it into place. I turned on the ignition and waited a couple of minutes to build pressure and started it. It wont idle and it is possible to get it to run at 3000 rpm and up but it misses. What did I do? I've changed them before on other Subys and they worked fine! kahoona
Thanks for the try. I just checked. Filter is in the right direction and all hoses nearby are attached. Kahoona
Suzam
Double check the air filter box and all the way along the airway to the engine. I had 1 3/4" hose on the underside of the assembly that produced the same problem. Once I found it an reconnected it, everything was fine.
MorganM
I'd say something got unplugged that you didnt expect. MAF plugged in? All vacume hoses pluged in or pluged up? Tripple check anything in the general areas you were working.
kahoona
THANKS SUZAM!! It sure was that 1 3/4 inch hose!. It runs into a connecter that makes it look like it goes somewhere else so I didnt even notice it. Gotta watch those 1 3/4" hoses. They'll get you every time. Now I need to get back to my main problem which is the good old Suby hesitation off idle. Plenty of threads to handle that tho. kahoona
Ok Now that it is back to itself again how do I get the Check Engine light to go off? Kahoona
forester2002s
If the fault has cleared itself, then the CEL should go out after a few runs in the car. If the CEL stays on, then a fault still exists.
Setright
Yep, I have done this too. It's the IAC hose that comes off when you lift the air filter box. Had me in panic for a few seconds!
