LGTSings4u2@aol.com
Hello, My name is Angel. My husband Phil and I own a 93 Subaru Legacy L sedan. We bought it used about 7 years ago and we are having a bit of difficulty with the car now. It seems that whenever we try to go 60 or above the car struggles. It seems as though the engine is pulling back. The whole car shakes. We changed the air filter and now it seems worse. Also, the air blower motor works a little bit only, Phil took it off and cleaned it and it seemed to respond well but after about a week it is back to working only sporadically and then very little air at all. Any suggestions or ideas would be well appreciated. Thank you, Angel Terry
MorganM
Hopefully it's just the spark plugs or plug wires. Could also be a fuel injector thats starting to go south. Possibly something else! Hard to diagnose but we'll try! Is your Check Engine Light (CEL) on ? Has it come on and then went off? Do you hear a slight 'pop' or 'thud' coming from the engine bay as it stumbles and struggles? Engine ever stall on you? ANY other symtoms you can think of?
Hondasucks
Almost sounds like it's in limp mode, but I dunno. I had a car that would do about the same thing, was a 91 legacy, one of the connectors for one of the injectors had broken and come off. Duct taped it back on and it worked fine. What you can do to determine if you have a dead cylinder or not is to remove the fuel injector plugs one at a time and the idle should drop with each one, the one that doesn't change is your dead cylinder. You can't just pull the plug wires one by one since each coil actually feeds two cylinders, so if you unplug one plug wire it's actually shutting off two cylinders. Does the Check Engine light come on when you turn the key to the ON posistion without the engine running? If it does not, the bulb is either burned out or someone removed it. My 91, someone had removed the ABS light and teh Check Engine light. I eventually got the check engine light ot go off, but I never fixed the ABS. Legacy777
As others have mentioned......is the check engine light on? What maintenance have you done, plugs, wires, filters, etc?
