erik litchy
just bought a 92 loyale for $600 and gave it a bit of a tune up, new o2 sensor, plugs, cap and rotor and changed a cv boot. it needs new struts. I dunno whats a good one for this car. its a 4wd wagon. I see boge-sachs are a little more expensive than kyb, and what about bilstien? there are so many brands out there. I want a somewhat firm ride, as personal preference. one last thing theres a lot of play in the shifter, it moves side to side too mutch in gear. I looked underneath on the lift and didnt see any worn bushings, but its a very complicated linkage.
viceversa
4wd is more desirable than 2wd I have.... I am also going to swap the O2 sensor, mine has 202,000 miles on it. I get almost 30mpg, and hope this will increase it.
erik litchy
havent run it through a whole tank of gas yet but is 198 miles at an indicated 1/2 tank good? I need some advice on struts. This car is in dire need of more damping than whats left of the stock struts at 122k miles. makes me want to waste gas driving my jeep because it at least has a nicer ride. the rear looks like any off the shelf coilover will work. heartless
hi Eric - welcome to the USMB! yeah, 198 miles at the 1/2 tank mark is doin pretty good. 200 miles or better at that point is great mileage outta these cars. mine is a two wheel drive, and i get an average of just over 30 mpg - combination of county roads, and freeway driving, about 100 miles a day. I have gotten just shy of 32 mpg out of this car, but never quite broke that mark. as for the struts - will let those that have done them answer that one. You can skip the major tune up for now. As far as struts, you can hardly go wrong with any brand you choose. Any "standard" struts will give you OEM specs. Not sure that "premiums" will give you any noticible difference. I would question whether they even need replaced on a newer Sube unless the car has been beat to sh*t. Unless one is blown out, they should be adequete. Give those another look before you go replacing them. good luck, John
