Holy cow! nice work...your hardwork shows :) . so that td04 spools up ok huh? is it more of a gradual spool than stock? sounds like it kicks in at the same time as stock...bet it sounds better too.

Damn, That is definately cool! How much cutting was involved? What trans are you using? Makes me want the Gen I that I know of not far from here. I like the shaved front end. What color are you gonna end up painting it? Blue like the engine bay? I am most definately jealous!

dude, you have inspired me to try and get my rx finished (well, you and the fact that i cant get a brat for a while) but i love the idea of the td04 under the hood of a brat.

wit the exhaust, how did you come up with the design of the adapter you made? i am going to have to get new exhaust on the rx anyway, so i might as well upgrade the turbo while im at it. hmmm, maybe i should go talk to the guys at meineke, they did a great job on my 2.5rs, they might be able to do good on this as well. hmmm, it will be great pulling up to school in the rx, everyone ther has a honda or other mainstream car, noone will ever notice the rx:D . it might make for a great sleeper.

I did a little test fitting on my sube while the exhaust was off. on the EA82 cars the WRX down pipe will fit almost perfect. I will find out for sure when I get a new intercooler and plumbing to do the swap the rest of the way.

oh yeah boost starts around 2K and full boost 2500 to 3000. this on a worn oil burning stock turbo.

Looks like the front of my Brat but the front of mine is about 4 inches lower and makes some really nice posi marks from the EA82 steels I have on it... oh yeah and BTW, in RWD, it will drift pretty well. I love gettin the rear squirrly in front of people. I get the "HUH?????" look from a bunch of the ricers that at first laugh at my bouncing poop of a Brat. I then do the burnout show for them and they start respecting the ole Brat:D

Nutt7,

Seems the tdo4 is not bad at all. I am without vacuum advance and I'm guessing this is responsible for much of the lag, it could be cams too, I'm guessing once every thing is dialed, I bet the turbo will be a great match.

Partsman,

I'll get over there one of these days....

Phatbrat, yes, 1980 subaru deep blue. It's like the wrc blue with out the metalic and pearl, more oldschool. I don't know if the front end will stay shaved, maybe some cool custom bumper...

subyrally,

the stock up pipe to tdo4 fits with the ovalization of one hole. I used a wrx down pipe which is not too far from the stock ea82t dp

rallyruss,

with my set up and the wrx down pipe, I cut a wedge out and re-welded to change the angle so the exit flange was a little higher /closer to the tranny cross member, from there on it's all custom (btw, it sucks welding under a car)

caboobaroo,

this weekend I was the man. I took the brat to some subaru friends house. A bunch of wrx wagon and turbo forester owners. One friend demanded a ride (I had wanted to wait until I had every bug worked out) to impress the crowd, I pulled a heavy launch and fish tailed down the block (not my neighborhood...) It's pretty easy to be a jack rump roast in this thing as is....

mtsfabman,

I think I'm going to drive out to john's this weekend maybe we can meet up?

Thank for all the good words folks, it's nice to have other people appreciate my efforts

Hey Garner, all i can say is get a heavy navy style tarp and lay it over your body after you wet it some, and some nice long gloves with no long sleeves. hates fires inside clothes, much less the shoes. been there done that.

Looks really good, and yeah very easy to be a jack rump roast in one, like almost got to show everyone what you have. i just like the looks you get when you run across people who havent seen it and white smoke the tires going down the block.

Hope you get the bugs worked out, as i still have a couple of minor ones to deal with nothing major. just simple ones. cause even though i am running a stock motor it is still a blast to drive.

get everything from the heads up. The spider is actually 4 parts: 2 injector blocks, 1 water pipe, and one spider. Besides that, all the hard fuel lines, and vac stuff and the harness.

You should be able to unplug two harness connectors, disconnect some fuel and vac stuff and remove two or three bolts per injector block and take it all as one piece

I can get these flanges. CNC plasma cutter......

I advise adapting a wrx dp (remove the cat first, I have an excellent technique that removes the cat in one piece) instead of bashing it into toxic dust/chunks) These are pretty great and cheap (nasioc) and a great piece of plumbing (the start of an open, 2.5" turbo back with the right flange). I don't know about your set up, but on mine, just a little cutting and rewelding, and perfect fit.....

subyraly, check yo pm....

thanks for all your help garner, but once again, ive hit another problem.i got a spider manifold and not the throttlebody for it.

Yes, the standard TB won't work. It may be able to be modified but...

Maybe you should be the tester of the XT 6 TB to see if it will work...

I think I have a spare XT 4 spider TB. if yer interested pm me

THATS THE SITE!!!!

some one else mentioned that site, but i thought that the td04 was a mitsubishi turbo.

It is. So is the TD05, 16G, 20G...etc....same bolt up as the new gen IHI ones. They made then to fit SUBARU applications. Once you get past the 20G and VF22....more mods and differnt flanges to make turbo fit.

i understand, thanks, i hate to send business away from the local machine shop, but at the moment, i am poor. i thin their flanges were like $20 and the machine shop would be about $60 - $80 for the flanges to be made.

on second thought, i might just get the inlet flang made and then a custom one peice uppipe/header made. i think ill try making it like the borla headers for my impreza, same routing as the turbo manifolds, but stays seperate till just before the turbo flange. if its done right, it should sound very boxerish.:brow:
