subaru_styles Posted July 23, 2004 Share Posted July 23, 2004 ok quick question. i know the xt uses different belts than a gl. since i will have a spider and will be using the crank pully for timming marks, is all i need are the rest of them, will they interchange or is there other parts i need? or should i not even bother. GLCraig Posted July 23, 2004 Share Posted July 23, 2004 I would hold off on all of the pulley swappin until you know for sure that you can't read the marks on the flywheel with the different intake. One possible stumbling point could be with the A/C compressor. I'm pretty sure that XT's only came with the Hitachi A/C system. If your GL has one of the Panasonic systems or Nippondenso system, you may not be able to find a compressor or compressor pulley that will work with the different belts. The power steering and water pump pulleys should swap, I’m not sure if you can swap the alternator pulley hand have the correct alignment.
