Alex C
I noticed that its dumping water every chance it gets now, and no its not coming from the thermo housing. I finally found the leak today, heard the steam coming out. My hose thats supposed to go to the heater from right off of the pump is leaking from the rear. Think Napa has it? That or have the dealer deliver it. In truth though I wouldnt want to own any other brand of car, and considering Ive put so many freakin hard miles on it im very happy for what Ive paid. 4k up front 7 years ago, and about 2.8k in parts and labor since then, engine rebuild being 1.2k of that. [HTi]Johnson
Get ahold of Partsman, he works at Napa. He would know.
GeneralDisorder
Just replace both those lines with a solid length of 5/8" heater core hose. Napa has it for about $0.99 a foot. Get some stainless hose clamps while your at it for the job. You don't need that special weird shaped hose - besides that they are thin and tend to fail. I had one split open on my Brat, and lost every drop of coolant. Good thing I had just done the head gaskets with Fel-Pro's, and milled the heads. I doubt my HG's would have held otherwise. I can take a pic of the ones in my Brat that I replaced if it would help you..... GD
bajavwnsoobnut
I think he is talking about the rubber elbow that is right on the pump and yes Napa will have that. And I know what you were talking about cause that happened to me also on my old 86 and I thought it was the Waterpump until I took off the AC compressor and saw it blown bright as day. And don't use anything else besides that 90 degree elbow cause you will have kinks and possibly a blockage due to that. Also while your at it might replace those other hoses too and the one that goes from just under the carb to the block or the steel heater line that is just on top of the block so you don't have to worry about that one blowing later on
ShawnW
Walk into the parts store with the old one and they can walk the aisles looking for one that has the bend in it. I have yet to find a store that didnt have the 90 degree bend hose.
