Car show

Recommended Posts

Went to a local car show today My son alerted me to it, said he saw a Subaru Brat turning into the lot. The front end of this looks just like the 1985 GL 4WD wagon I had, with the spare tire in the same place. I think it was a 1.8L. Mine was a 5 speed manual, great car.

Hey where in CT are you ? There’s a few, very few of us vintage Subaru owners here. I’m down in beautiful Bridgeport.
Keep your eyes open for a 79 4wd wagon soon.

And which show was that ?

Be sure to hit a Caffeine and Carburetors in New Canaan if you haven’t already.

Enjoy !

I'm in eastern Conn. The show was in Tolland, right over the Vernon line. It was huge! Does Premier Subaru also have a site in Watertown? I know it moved a couple years ago, down the street but into a different town. I serviced the phone system at their old site a couple times. Sounds like the Branford site is an interesting one.

If you're ever at Family Garage in Bridgeport tell Scotty and Bobby Steve the phone system guy said hi!

Photos of the '79 wagon would be great.

Yes, Premier has become THE premier Subaru dealer now with I think at least three locations. But the big dog in Branford is the one you’d want to visit. I’m not sure if he keeps any classics in the other locations. Maybe he will place one or two at each. I would.

Ahh, I need to get my tail in gear with being able to use the gallery here and post pics easily. For now I can’t and I’m too tired or lazy at the moment to got through all the outside sourcing etc.

Soon I’ll get some pics. But you can also email me at moosens@yahoo.com and I’ll gladly reply with some pics.

And for shows, well everyone has copied the really big shows. I think it can be said without question that the New Canaan C&C show is the one to go to anywhere near here. That’s pretty much copied from the west coast guys.

Now every other town wants to copy but of course you can’t match the wealth of Fairfield County and Westchester Co. next door. So the cars that have shown up are over the top. Plenty of more common cars and lesser value too. But the super cars are too much.

I haven’t gone in quite a while. Like Yogi Bera said - nobody goes there anymore because it’s too crowded.

But I suggest everyone in the area attend one at least once.
Check it out online first and maybe that’s good enough. Lots and lots of stories to tell. That whole thing started with a handful of guys who met at Zumbach’s and then took off for a spirited ride. My friend in his 67 Lotus Elan had a really hard time keeping up at times. Then it grew and the rides had to stop. Then it just grew and grew.

Ok I’ve gotta cut out but hope we catch up soon.
