lmdew
Betterhalf was driving, and said the Forester was acting strange. I got in and it had a huge amount of drag as I let out the clutch. Pulled off the expressway and popped the hood. Yep the hillholder was not releasing. No tools other than the Subaru kit in the rear. I was able to get the hillholder cable retaining clip off the bracket and open the hillholder completely. Problem solved and we made it home 80 miles. I may just leave it disabled if I can not get it working properly.
czny
Hill holder return spring missing or broken? Clutch T/O arm end of hill holder cable needs adjustment because the clutch disc has worn some?

lmdew
Yep, that will most likely be the solution.
GeneralDisorder
I've had a couple customers encounter this and every time we have tried to lube them up and get them working they inevitably come back with the wheels locked up again so we just decided that the customer's choices are replace it or disable it. They can also leak so we have deleted them a time or two as well. Not that hard to do. GD Edited October 6, 2023 by GeneralDisorder
