benebob
I'm thinking about putting on a Thrush Glasspack on my XT6 for autoxing. Has anyone put one on a Subie? How loud was it. Loud is okay but don't want anything that'll fart all the way around the course. Any better cheap suggestions? Don't wanna do to elaborate as I'd like to stick my stock muffler on when not autoxing. archemitis
a thrush will sound great, if you leave the cats in they are not too much louder than a worn out stock one. punch the cats, and its throaty, and more open sounding, but either way, they wont sound like the 3 foot strate pipes on my wagon =p. not a big fan of straight duals. peepl think an airplane is langind in front of thier house when i pull up. MorganM
I thought I had a Dynomax Thrush glasspack on my Subaru. I have recently discoverd it is not a Trush but more similar to a Thunder Bolt glasspack. The Dynomax Thrush is the same thing as a cherry bomb. On their website I saw a PDF document that illustrated the design... identical to a cherry bomb. Dirt cheap glass pack in every aspect. They are loud but not bad. You will not get pulled over for running them. The Thunder Bolt is better constructed and the core design was actually thought about. I'm far more happy with this one than the cherry bombs. Again quite loud but not too loud. The longer they are the more sound they will dampen. So if you just want a little rumble get the 3 footers. If you wanna sound like a Harely get the 1 footers. 75skunkaroo
we put dual blue streak glasspacks on the lifted wagon, sounded cool, and had a neat double backfire while shifting. prolly not the kind of set-up you're thinkin of tho -mike
benebob
Did it increase the power. In order to stay stock I need to keep the cats on so will it be a better set up than a cheap "turbo" muffler which I'm having trouble finding one that'll fit. I'm assuming the double backfire was w/o cats. The one I'm looking at is 31 inches.
75skunkaroo
we used the flanges from a old stock system, bought some 90* bends, and ran flex-pipe the the 30(or so) inch packs. so no cats or anything. couldn't really tell if there was a power increase due to the suzuki t-case and 31" tires, just made it more "american" i guess. -mike
