DaveD
Hi All, We have a 2009 Impreza Sport (base). The steering wheel starts shaking when accelerating to about 70 km/h. When I reach speeds of 70km+ and accelerate faster there is no shaking. However, when I take my foot off the gas, the steering wheel starts shaking again. So short accelerated no shaking, deceleration at high speeds causes shaking. Tires are the same size, balanced and rotated. The brake calipers move in and out freely. New rotors and pads. What else should I be checking and how do I check them? Could it be lower ball joints? CV axle? Tie rod ends? And what should I check first (most likely cause)? Any advice is appreciated. forester2002s
Could be a CV-joint, especially if the vibration seems to be from one wheel only. And more likely a front CV-joint, as you say that the steering wheel shakes. Or could be the universal-joint and/or support-bearing on the rear drive-shaft.
