Caboobaroo
Finally, I got the new motor in the Brat. This thing runs sooo good now. I got the Holley 5200 on it that is from a 2.3L Pinto that was fully rebuilt that I paid 15 bucks for. I still have to do some adjusting to it but it left a FAT patch of rubber in front of my parents house:D I think it has more power than the old motor which is what I was hoping. Well I gotta go cause more tire smoke and pissed off neighbors!!!
LUVMYBRAT
what type of adapter is needed for that pinto carb?
GeneralDisorder
That carb is a knock-off (licensed from weber by Ford actually) of the 32/36 DFV series. Same mounting as the DGV series, so the redline adaptor that we all know and love works just the same on it. BEWARE - some of the holley/weber 5200 series have smaller venturi's by a good bit than the DGV's do. Prolly make a little more torque than a Hitachi, but not a lot. Not worth the effort/cost in my opinion. Just get a DGV. Either will work, but you will have to experiment with jetting on the 5200 as the difference in venturi sizes leaves you without any reference for jetting. Same jets as the DGV, but will require different sizes because of the reduced airflow. GD
bajavwnsoobnut
good to hear that that motor actualy runs! now to get that other motor and hey if you have an extra set of motor mounts can ya toss them in? gotta experiment I am gonna do once I get the money. and GD the jetting might be smaller as it is cause it's a 1600 not 1800 and the venturi size will be prolly perfect for that thing
Caboobaroo
Well its still running thank god:D I do have some timing issues though because it does a little dieseling when I turn it off but not much. The only thing is when I got to set the timing to 12 BTDC, it hardly runs and has no low end power. Any thougt on why that is? I messed with the idle mixture screw on the front of the carb but I have never really messed with a Weber (ok Holley 5200...). Anyways I just need some help with some adjustments but even when I'm going around a corner, top out first gear, shift into second hard, the whole back end slides very nicely:D Oh and Jason, that motor will come up the next time either Andrew or myself come up. So do you want two sets of motor mounts or just the one set on the motor you're getting?
bajavwnsoobnut
well if your offering then I will take two cause I am gonna fiddle with making urethane bushings sometime soon
Caboobaroo
I believe I have two sets and if you want, you can also have the blue parts motor that I have because I won't really be needing it and I just need to get rid of it before I leave.
