Alex C
When standing facing the engine compartment from in front, what is the bundle of open connectors on the passenger side by the firewall? And why have I seen not only on mine but on others the blue and green connectors hooked up? What does this do?
Turbone
On what car? Most of the connectors in question are for testing at the Dealership. And some are for accessories that are not installed that might be later.
Alex C
oops, 82 4-door sedan with 3AT and ea-81. Alex
GeneralDisorder
Probably the place they would tap into the harness for "Dealer installed A/C" or "Dealer installed Cruise Control" or something similar. Basically, this provides the power circuits and the interface to the dash switches and stuff for these options which people commonly wanted installed seperately instead of paying for a more expensive trim package that already came with it. Alex C
Correction, one plug is white, the other is blue, but they have the same color and pattern of wires, so they must go together. Also they are hooked up to the vacuum valves up in that corner.
TomRhere
My '82 BRAT has those same conectors and solenoids, no clue as to what they are for though. The vacuum line to them was plugged by the person that put the EA-82 engine in, engine ran fine without them. Just for the record, it was originally a California BRAT, and had factory AC, even had an ECU under the dash.
WagonsOnly
My guess would be cruise control. My mom had an '82 GLF coupe with every single option the factory offered that year...tomorrow i'll take a look (it's now mine, and sitting in the backyard waiting for me to do something with it). It's also a 3AT, btw.
