raniza
The transmission of my 93 Imprenza sounds like it is howling at all speeds. I think it is in the differential because it dosen't change with engine speed just road speed. It started about 500 miles after I installed new pads on the front brakes and rotated the tires. I rerotated the tires and it didn't help. Any suggestions?
lacey 2.2
It could be a wheel bearing. A rough wheel bearing will howl like crazy, and it can be hard to pick which wheel its comming from.If the the hub isnt loose when you give it the wiggle test this doesnt mean the bearing is good. Coasting in neutral with motor off is the noise there? If so sounds like a wheel bearing. Try by listening while you drive to figure out which corner it is, then pull axle out then spin hub. You will know then if its bad.

SevenSisters
http://endwrench.com/images/pdfs/WheelBearing.pdf This is what I went by. Needed a HubTamer and some modifications in the procedure to accomodate the HubTamer adapters. You have to keep pressure off the rollers by applying force only to the races. The conventional way is to remove the knuckle from the car and press out the bearings. Good Luck
