Strut spacer

Recommended Posts

Hey I am doing a homeade 4 inch lift on my 82 gl wagon.

everything is going good but I want to make sure I get the strut spacer right. Does anyone know the ange I should use? I have heard 23 degrees works.

Also it looks like my power steering pump is going to hit the radiator fan. I asked this question before a long time ago and someone replied that I need to tilt my engine back. HOW DO I DO THIS?

put a bar across the fenders over the strut tops and use some geometry to find the angle of the strut towers. Add a few more degrees to that angle when you build your strut tops, just to give you 0 or a slight negative camber rather than the positive stock camber. Tack it and make sure it fits in the strut tower without hitting the inside though. Of course you can always do a little pounding to the strut tower if needed.

Yes you need the angles at the top and bottom of the block. This way you are mounting the strut at the same angle and straight under the original location, so that camber is unaffected. I was suggesting to add a few more degrees so that camber ends up a bit better than stock.

Oh, and on the power steering pump, the best way I can think of is to drop the trans crossmember a little more to tilt the motor back.
