Dr. RX
I'am having a problem with the manual trans on my 92 svx. Yesturday I noticed the rpm where winding out I pretty much new the tranny was slipping. But today I go out to drive it and it starts but where put into drive it stalls does anyone know if this is a common problem with when the tranny goes out?????????? I'm confused, first you state it is a manual tranny, and SVX's didn't come with manual trannies, then you said you put it in drive, that sounds like an automatic. So what is it a manual or an automatic, unless you did a conversion, my vote is for an automatic.

It dosent sound like the descrition of a manule tho.

SubaSkeet
specifications on the vehicle drivetrain would be neccessary to correctly assess the malfunction with the vehicle. i assume that a swap to manual was not in order previously unless it was owned and sold by another board member. i see no others that would do something to that nature unless they truly appreciated the svx to the point of where they would join this board to admire other subarus. in any case, the gears slipped, and a rebuild is probably necessary. just assumtions, however. GLCraig
unfortunitly SVXs eat 4EATs like mad.
PetterFan
The AUTOMATIC tranny that came with the SVX has many problems. The radiator based cooling system works terribly, and the way it is designed, the lubrication doesn't flow through the tranny very well. Both of these characteristics cause overheating. I don't know if this is the root of your problem, or if it even applies to you, but I hope it helps.
Meeky Moose
unfortunitly SVXs eat 4EATs like mad. 186k+ original miles on my original tranny in my 94 svx anyways, make sure its full of fluid first off.. next i'm gonna suggest pulling the plug on teh sensor that is right behind the battery..
