its alive!!!!!!!!!

thank you so very much snotrocket, you are the greatest.

now i just need to figure out why it isnt runnig smoothly, it turned out to only be a loose fuse connection, figures it would be something tiny and simple.

i think that the car is having a spiratic misfire on #3, but im not sure as to why, ill try to figure out in the morning. well, unless i end up swapping suspension on the impreza:brow: .

thanks for everyong that helped and offered advice.

Hi, My2 cents worth, I have had a couple of times seen stuck valves which in turn let the rocker drop out of place (ea82) and then NO COMPRESSION-- engine was running and idling fine the night before . Second , the little transistor thingy made onto the coil bracket from about 87 on gave me a time of it , had power to coil and dist but would not fire the plugs -- (did not make and break the power to fire the plugs) from what you have said I think it could be either . (check the compression on ALL )- if good try the coil bracket thing. LOL

...and ive been old that if i cant get it running soon, ill have to junk it. i have replaced just about all the ignition system components under the hood during the last couple months. new coil, ditsy, cap, rotor, plug wires, alternator, battery, plugs are new from december when i built the engine.

i set the timing on the ditsy to tdc. the timing belts are still in sink.

i checked for spark, it were there. pulled a plug and smelled gas, so the injectors are working. i tried starter fluid and the car didnt even try to start, i just got a single "pop" from the tail pipe.

i really need to get this car running again so that i can get to and from school while my impreza is in the shop.(damn deer) it will be down for at least two weeks and i think that getting the rx running will cost less than getting a rental car, even with the insurance co paying a bit towards that.

any help would be great, i need all that i can get. i am at a loss on trying to fix it. i have no idea of what else to look for.

thanks

tim c.

thanks for the info, but you might want to read all the posts before you send in a reply. i am thankful for your insight though, but it turned out to just be a loose connection.
