MiNoahsPinkMartini
I didn't know it was such a hard thing to tow a subaru. Anyways. My 90 legacy had a bit of a problem. The radio went off and then all the lights got dim.. and that damn power light flashed and she lost all power! Boooo.. Doesn't that sound like the alternator? I hope so. I had it towed to a auto shop here in pullman and since it's kind of a pieced together car (and I don't work on it) I hope they don't try and tell me that EVERYTHING needs to be fixed. It was working just fine before. Well, any ideas kids? Or does it sound like I know my stuff. I'll let you in on what the shop says later today. Booo for being sick from standing out in the wet and cold last night waiting for a tow truck!

frag
Alternator sounds like the cooperate to me, or possibly voltage regulator. Good call in my opinion. I don't know about the 1990 MY but in my 96 the voltage regulator is an integral part of the alternator.
MiNoahsPinkMartini
sounds interesting.. I just dropped the keys off.. i'll let yall know what they say when I hear from them later! $300 later and hopefully my alternator is good to go. They said it looks like it burnt up some of the wiring and that might be some more money. Booo to not having Noah and John to save my @$$.
sasquatch
alternator sounds likely but I'm going to go out on a limb and say bad negative battery cable
coloradosubarules
My 90 legacy did the same thing more than once as I kept getting bogus ALT's from the part store. I finally got one that works thought. You should have gone with your gut feeling and instaled it yourself. All you realy need is a 10 and 12mm socket. It is cake!! Good luck. MiNoahsPinkMartini
thanks guys but I needed my car and I needed it fast.. AAA paid for the tow truck so it wasn't all bad. Interestingly enough the power light flashing has started again? What to do about that now?
Ratty2Austin
the power light is a part of your tranny.. cause you have the 4EAT in your Legacy... if it is flashing, it means that there is a trouble code (problem!!) stored in the ECU/TCM... bring it to me on one of my days off and I can run the select monitor for ya! I really hope that your tow truck got all 4 wheels OFF the ground when they towed it.. otherwise, your towing company will be getting you a new tranny!
