wirelessenabled
I have a '00 OBW with Phase II 2.5 with 61K miles. When I changed my coolant about a month ago I went and got a bottle of the new magic additive from the dealer. I changed the coolant and put the additive in figuring I could show the receipt and get the dealer to sign off on it. No dice. Called SOA and the agent said no problem, got my VIN and said it was entered into my files. He called back the next day and said he couldn't do it. My question is would it be harmful to go to the dealer and get them to dump in another bottle of the additive? Or should I just change out my new coolant and then go to the dealer? Adnan
Hi, I'm a bit confused - sounds like you have fresh coolant with the correct additive. Why would you want to drain it and have the dealer do it over again? I don't think adding a second bottle is a good idea as it may impact the ability of the coolant to flow well. wirelessenabled
If you get the dealer to sign off that the additive was used you get the warranty on the HG extended to 100K miles. My dealer won't do that unless they dump the additive in themselves. Unfortunately they won't do it in 15 minutes, they want the car all day with no courtesy service. That is the reason I did it myself in the first place.
Adnan
Ah, thanks for the clarification. I guess SOA has caught so much flak over this issue that they're taking no chances. Regards, Adnan
slo5oh
I want to know what it is!!! What does the stuff look like? does it look like real fine chew or shredded tree bark? or is it a liquid (pink maybe?)? If it's the pink liquid you will be fine with 2 or even 3 doses... it's just redline water wetter. I swear by the stuff.
MorganM
If they arent gonna sign off on it (and it sounds like you tried hard to get them to) then you gotta let them do it. I wouldnt do anything more; just bring it in and say "drain the coolant, add new coolant, add your bottle of junk, and SIGN OFF ALREADY" They are honestly just wasting your time on a technicality. Ratty2Austin
I used this magic fluid in my turbo XT, and it solved the mini leak (it was leaking at some hose fittings where some corrosion had taken over) it works!! and I use it at work on cars coming in for their service (i work at a Subaru dealer) and one car came in leaking coolant from the head gasket! (fresh and dripping) so we added the additive, (in less than 15 minutes!) and i took it out on the freeway for 5 miles... then rechecked it, and the leak was repaired!! it is wonderful additive!!! i belive that one or 2 doses in the same batch wont hurt much.. its not too thick as far as a clogger... (not like alumakiller)
brus brother
So let me get this straight... even if you go to a dealer and have the 100K warranty juice added, then each time you might change the coolant for whatever reason, you need to have a dealer install the magic fluid or you void the then extended warranty? shortlid
Do you guys think that the magic fluid would cure my VERY slightly leaking heatercore in my '98 Legacy L wagon with the EJ22??? Joel
wirelessenabled
Thanks for the info. I think I will just let the dealer add another bottle.
richierich
This is for Brus Brother. I had the same question since I own a auto repair shop. No you do not have to have the dealership reinstall the additive every time you change the coolant. The first time the put it in the computer, and put the sticker on. Everytime after that you, have to added the additive whenever you change the coolant and keep a record of it. For example, customer comes in with 45k miles (already has had 30k service) I tell them about the recall. They go to the dealership (against their will, "I though I brought my car to you guys so we would never have to see the dealer again") tdealer install the additive. At 60k when the service is due. We flush the cooling system and add the additive, making sure that it is noted on their invoice. Extended headgasket warrantee still intact.
