Wow!!

So many questions. I wonder if it's just a concept car that never went into production? I wonder if the doors open at the front or back? (kinda looks like they might be hinged at the front) I'd be willing to bet that it's got the same little 360cc 2cyl engine in it!

Very cool! Where do you find this stuff?

Hey Corky (I thought I would be the first to ask)

Are you going to drop an EJ in it?

I'm sorry, I just couldnt resist

Must be the drugs :-p

The answer is NO!!!!!!, but it will be painted Rally Blue.

Found some more info, this is a MS Word document, so you'll probably need MS Word to open it. http://corkysrocks.net/Subaru Sports.doc . It's in Japanese, I wish I could read it.

Is the car a one off or concept? Could your buddy from the U get you some info on it?
First, it appears that there were two of these made, but it appears only one is still around. Second, who you talking to?? Whos's buddy in the U???

The one I was refering to was your friend(?) at WWU (I think it was from there, the one that had the Turbo Hatch). I thought he had some connections in Japan.
Well, just saying friend at U didn't tell me much, which U?? I have friends at the UofW, WSU, WWU, UCLA, and several other U's. If you are refering to Dr. Seal, I believe he has retired, but I do have his phone number. I'm not sure if the car in question is in Subaru's hands, it seems like it is in a private parties hands, not someone at Subaru, so I'm not sure his connection would help. So let's see, there are how many millions of people in Japan? And only one of them owns the car, gee talking about a needle in a hay stack. Someone from Subaru must know who the car was sold to since is was a prototype, so that is where I would start.

Hey Dr. RX, why not make one yourself from pics and use a 360 chassis? It's a fairly simple body, a learning experience in fiberglass, if it's something you've never done before.
Well first I'd have to find a 360 that the body wasn't worth restoring and the running gear was good. Then I wouldn't do it in fiberglass, it would probably be aluminum or steel. I once worked (parttime in the summer) at MarLin Ski boats (later renamed to Skegin (sp?) Boats), I have many hours of experience of prepping molds for fiberglassing, laying the glass and spreading the epoxy. To do it right I'd first have to create a mold, and that is not an easy task. It would be much easier to create it out of sheet metal.

Yeah, my dad bought an early 60's tvr grantura once that had been rolled. So he collected as many photos and measurements as he could of the original car and built a new body to sit around the original tubular frame. He added some improvements along the way like a race-modded capri v6 and jaguar suspension. He said it was fun but he'd never do it again. The shed he did it in had to be taken down by a hazmat team before he could sell the house
