clutch adjustment

Recommended Posts

Hey I had a post on here the other day about this.. my clutch doesn't engage until its all the way up. within a 1\4 inch... I tried tightening cable as suggested that just made clutch pedal higher.. I know your pedal is supose to be the same height as the brake.. mines, about 2 inches above. would that effect my clutch adjustment???? suggestions would be appreciated

I didn't read your other post, but if adjustment of the cable didn't help, and your clutch hasn't been replaced, good chance it may need it. I just bought a clutch kit from napa for 200 bucks for a 86 ea82 that I just got.

The clutch is fine, not slipping feels real solid... I don't think I'm adjusting it right.. I'll have to look at it some more.

Clutch should be adjusted to have 1/16" to 1/8" of free play at the clutch fork or about 1/2" free play at the pedal. I haven't a clue as to why it's 2" higher than your brake pedal but it doesn't sound right and it wouldn't have anything to do with the proper clutch engagement.

Does that mean that when i push the pedal down at 1/2'' the clutch should engage? I'm asking because that doesn't seem like much.
