Don't kill me! Fuel Pump Harness/Connector

Recommended Posts

Okay, I've been reading numerous posts regarding gas tanks and how to find the fuel pump connector/harness, but I could never find mine. Everyone has been saying it's located under the backseat, but when I take out the backseat, I could only see some harnesss going under, but I could never find where to pry to open the way to the fuel pump connect/harness.

Someone with the same year (90-91 Leggie ) of car, please help me. Where do find this connector/harness? I can't pry open anything once I take out the backseat. Nothing to work with. Am I blind or something?

Edited: No, I mean I see the connector/harness, but I couldn't get to the gas tank opening to service the pump.

It is in the same place, roughly anyway. The trunk carpet has to come out, which means the three plastic things on the lower part of the seatbacks need to come off.

There are two access holes (on AWD), you want the one on the passenger side. They are screwn down lids.

What are you looking for, the fuel pump connector, or the access panel to the fuel pump?

The connector is under the rear seat on the passenger side, and is commonly covered with a thin black foam piece so it doesn't rattle, move around. Typically it's near the front of the back seat sill.

The pump access panels are in the trunk.

I'm looking for access to the fuel pump to clean the fuel level sender/sensor/leveler (or whatever you call it). When filled up, the gauge moves too slow to show that's the tank is full. I'm wondering if the level sensor is too dirty or something.

The access panels are in the trunk if you have a sedan, or behind the seats under the carpet if you have a wagon.

There's two access panels. You'll need to remove both. The pump side has a level sender on it, as well as the jet assist side. What you can do is take some emery paper, or very fine sand paper and go over the metal contact points to help remove any oxidation or other dirt that may be causing issues with the signal.
