LUVMYBRAT
What are some of the ways every one has done to cure the ever present exhaust leak so prone to subes, mine an 85 brat non turbo, 3 sets of gaskets, I'm tired of buyin them:banghead:
torxxx
which gaskets are you using. There are two different types. One is a metal covered gasket that is fairly thick (use this one) and then you have the crappy paper thin ones with the metal ring around the inside of the gasket. I use the thick ones and have never had a problem. You could be getting the leak from having partially stripped out head to exhaust studs. my buddy fought that for a year or two until I threaded a bigger stud in there for him
ShawnW
Timesert (fancy helicoils) the loose studs and check to make sure its not an aftermarket Y-Pipe as some of them have the flange thats flat and some have the tube that goes into the head that sticks up above the flange. In that case you need a donut and then possibly the flat flange gaskets in order to get a tight seal. www.timesert.com for timeserts.
