Subaru's Everywere!!

Well my Wagon is on the decline, my tire blew out and i am in dire need of another axle, i have a friend looking for tires for me but otherwise its sitting on a spare(looks really funny)

 

But on a better note i know of at least 5 subarus within 30 miles of my house that i need to talk to people about to see if they would be willing to part with them, they are all just sitting in yard in pieces or havent moved in 6 months another thing i found was a mid 70's white wagon with a push bar and everything, there is one major problem, old cars dont like to last long in washington weather and if i get it winter might be hard on it unless i can fix some of the rust.

 

was just wondering if i should bother to get it or just pass, its just up the street from my house and a neighbor of the person said they wanted to get rid of it would i be getting my self in to deep or what. also if i should get it how hard are parts to get for them i dont know how many parts it shares with anyother subs if you guys could just give me some advice.

The age old dilema.....to get or not to get.

 

the main question I would ask is what is the vehicle for? Daily Driver or project car. If daily driver, it might not be a good candidate b/c there would be alot of work involved.

 

I bought a BRAT as a project car and so far is running pretty well. Bought it for 550.00 so far I have spent about 800 dollars in repair and improvements. It's become my daily driver as my fiance is driving my OBS.

 

Ultimately it's a 70's wagon. Probably a handful of those left in working order. If you have the time and the money pick it up and save it from the Crusher.

my best advice: get out of washington if you want a decent car. if that isn't going to happen, get something like a late 80's loyale or legacy. brat if you can do it. my cousin lives up by olympia, drives her '89 GL (loyale) everywhere. hasn't had a major problem yet. but then again, she's ignorant and wouldn't know... anyway, she's had it for a good 5 years. no power, but if is a commuter, ya'll don't need that up there since it's flat and all. for up there, dad's best advice for surface judging: look for 'not rusty.'

ummm Get out of washington...do you mean look for a roo outside of washington or get out period>? ahhahahahhah i don't have a RUST prob with my roo...and ive lived here for 54yrs......ummmm and i don't see many Rusted out cars either ..oooh sorry well there are a few in the pastures but correct me if iam wrong.....doesn't it Rain in Colorado? i know it snows ...ummm you have to have rain to make snow.....i could have sworn thats how snow is made ..lol...just having fun....sparkster

stuff doesn't rust up here at all, because no, it doesn't rain. my county is listed as "desert terrain," 'cept for snow. they don't even salt the roads. if they did it would be in vain, because it would just snow again tommorow... i seen all the heart-wrenching rust and mold and other pretty stuff up there in WA, and yeah, he's a whole bucket full of pity. just so you know...

rust? I haven't had any problems with rust before and I lived in the Willamette Valley. I have a '79 4wd wagon with little to no rust at all (sat for a few years next to some dudes house) and my Brat has lived in the PNW all its life. It was bought in Troutdale, went to Washington, sat in a wrecking yard for 10 years, came down to Albany (not running) and sat in another yard for a few months when the guy I got it from saved it to fix up. Unfortunatyl, he is extremely unintellegent and couldn't get it going good in 6 months so I traded an '88 Justy to him for it:D Rust? Meh I have no steeeeeeeenkin rust:D

Rust, as long as the inner fenders have been in it, it shouldn't be all that bad. But If it has set for a long time look out. I got a '79 BRAT right across the river from concrete and it was the cleanest straightest one ever. I think it's just kinda hit or miss. Just buy all the subarus good or bad that's always kinda been my deal.:)
