Frank B
But there are 5-speed AWD's right? Silly question I know, but I just see sooooo many auto AWD Legacy cars.
THAWA
Yes Just FYI the Leone series are 4WD cars, with FWD aswell. The Loyale series are 4WD or AWD or as it was called, Fulltime 4WD. And of course FWD cars also. The Legacy series (legacy, impreza, outback, forester, baja) are AWD cars, course there were FWD cars too.

Ratty2Austin
I have a 1990 Legacy wagon with a 5spd AWD tranny.. and, if your looking, I have a 5spd AWD tranny that will fit right in a early legacy for sale!
ShawnW
There is such a thing as an 89 Legacy but it too is AWD-- for US Models. Its the ugliest Legacy ever, looking like a Loyale because its bumpers are painted black not matching the color of the car and the steel wheels with center hubcaps like the old Loyale series had. It stands out as an 89 so badly its insane.

P K
Ratty2Austin - how much for the AWD 5 speed, and is it shippable? Is the main shaft bearing fine? thanks, PK ... or, has anyone replaced the main bearing - I understand you have to split the trans open.
THAWA
shawn it's still a 90, but was just built in 89 and sold in 89 aswell but as a 90 hell my car was built in may of 89 and sold in oct of 89 but it's still a 90. It's a Legacy STD meaning standard. They were made in sedan or wagon, but only FWD and had no power anything except steering, made for an extremely light car. lvdpb
I have '97 legacy gt, awd - fantastic car. wouldn't trade it for the world, cost $16 K used, about 40K miles on it. Where the early Legacy wagons available in an AWD, or 4WD, 5-speed configuration?? Thanks
Setright
Yep, the Legacy started production in 1989 - but only in Japan were they sold as 1989 models. I was living in Singapore when it was launched, and got there pretty quick due to RHD like in Japan, and they were "1990" models.
