TotallyCorupt
I own a 92 loyale with a regular old EA82 and its just way to gutless for my needs and i really want to swap in a new motor and i really need some help on deciding what motor to put in it. I really want to get away from the EA and maybe head towards an EJ22 or maybe a EJ20 N/A or Turbo, i dont know what the hp difference is but i really just want to get up around the 150hp range or ever higher would be ok. I have searched and i havent been able to find anything that realy helps me decided (maybe looking in wrong spot) but any input would help alot. complaints and all. I want to do something before winter hits full on. SO bring it on!!! And thanks for all the help. Thanks, Mike
torxxx
A N/A EJ22 is 165 hp I beleive. Mudrat79 makes adaptor kits for the conversion. A few have done the conversion on the board.. I am also thinking about doin it to my car. The hardest part would be the wiring harness from the engine to the dash. the cluster panel out of a ej22 car would fit fairly well into the loyale dash. Flowmastered87GL
EJ22's have between 135 and 142 HP (factory spec from the brochures) and EJ25's have 165 to 167 I belive.
TotallyCorupt
What about the EJ20 motor. replacing the dash cluster would be kinda cool, i wouldnt mind doing that if it would make the wiring be alot easier. I guess i could settle with 135 hp, that would be alot better then what im gettting outta my EA82. does the motor fit in the engine bay fairly easy and would it be a good idea to put the trany from the EJ in the car as well or should i go for an adapter from the EJ motor to the tranny i have now. it would be kinda nice to have the push bottom 4WD still. Thanks for the help so far guys keep it coming. Mike

Bruman Just for the record, your lifter noise is probably just the same ticking that every subaru has before the engine is warmed up. completely normal, unless it happens AFTER it is warmed up (ie: starts ticking at any given time/rpm). Bruman
yeah, i noticed that at first. but now it knocks all the time, and i've switched from using ethinol fuel, ive tried using engine treatments. i drained the oil and put karosene in it to burn for about 20 sec. than drained it back out. but the noise is horrible still. i'll try anything. i cant even hear myself think when i drive. thanks
