lepetitprince Posted October 26, 2004 Share Posted October 26, 2004 Hi all, so when I got my new old car, 98 outback, the only key I got from the used car dealer was a spare key.... and I would like to know if this vehicle is previously equipped with a keyless entry but just lost the key and the equipment. I don't want to sound like a Brat but I kind of need one...I go to school in Detroit downtown...bit scary scenario: you are trying to open a car and spare key doesnt want to listen to me all the times....and while you are struggling to open a door, someone jumps on you from behind....Yeah...I need one soon so I can open the car before I get to it, and jump in and lock it.. That is my strateagy. If it is equipped with keyless entry, what do I need to get one(just the equipment, is ebay's product dependable?) What would be the cheapest route for this? Surfdougyfresh Posted October 27, 2004 Share Posted October 27, 2004 Dan, Take a look under the hood release latch for a little black button that is required to program program the car, or program the keyfob. Not really sure which one recognizes the other. i think it's recessed a bit so you won't accidentally push it. I bought a keyfob off of ebay, only to discover that my '98 OBW doesn't have the button. There should also be a small black box under the dash that is labeled 'keyless entry' or something along that line. Do a search on this site for keyless entry.
