I plan on getting a dyno done. I dunno when.

I get 93 octane at the pump. Around here, I know a place where I can get 104 or 110 that NASCAR uses...from a pump. I live near Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Ok, so, 825 miles now. No problems. The turbo has proven to be excellent.

The starting problem has worsened. I think i have a solution, Im gonna clean/replace the contacts in two of the three starters that I have, and see what happens. I think that I will do something with the tranny soon...its still shifting better everyday though. Maybe today I can work on the webpage for once!

if you want a little more power, you should definitely intercool it. this will serves another purpose (besides the obvious). it'll provide a little bit of a pressure drop, and hopefully should get rid of the pinging you're experiencing...

ah... well, you might not now, but on a hot summer day, you definitely may, depending on teh terrain and stuff around you... an intercooler wouldn't be a bad idea anyways...

Ok, 1000 miles...no gas mileage report yet, no $ and still have 1/2 tank left.

She performed quite well for 3 burnouts. And some back road racing. That will be her last race action as from now and forever (unless engine proves VERY reliable for the boost on 9.5:1) until I get copper headgaskets and an extra car as backup incase of breakage.

Still, no problems, cruises VERY well. Acceleration is madness, and throttle response is excellent.

Once again, no problems.

what mods have you done (if any) to the fuel system to keep up with the engine? i assume this is a MPFI engine. would this be possible to do to an EA81T using an EA81 carb'd shortblock? how hard was it to hook up the new block to the old perifrials? later!!

the blocks for EA82 are the same. The MPFI and Turbo blocks have an extra PCV vent at the back of the block. that was the only mod to make it work.

I am running the original stock turbo fuel system.

I think that you could do the same for the EA81, but im not sure.

and now problems.

I've been palying with stereo setups...I've taken a 4.1 computer speaker surround sound setup, and converted it for use with the 12v systems of our subies. Thru the cig. lighter, since I never use it. I ahve routed the sub to the back (very small unit, its also the brain of the system) and the 4 speakers are currently in the back seat. The 2 line ins are routed to a CD player.

My plans are to mount the two original front speakers to the plastic in the coners at the back, and the two rear ones, will be creatively engineered into place of the factory speakers up front. The, since this next part is the easy'est, I will take out the original subwoofer in the unit, which is MAYBE 5", and replace it with an external 10", with a 100 or 200 watt amp.

What you yall think?

it had a transformer that took ac 160 @ 60hz, and steped it down to 13.5 w/4amps. Both the in and out of that trans went onto this board, and two wires went from with, red+black to the main board, with the amps, controls and such. The voltage from the trans was AC on that out side too. It confised me, and when i dicovered that, I was gonna put it back together, and possibly sell it...but then I checked the voltage going to the main bard....12.5 VOLTS DC!!!!!! I cut the connector, wire'ed up some wire to it, and a cig. adapter, and found some audio cord extensions, and wham, its in le car.

THe cord i used was a onld 12ft household ext. cord, for it fits perfectly commin out of the box. I'll do the same for the 10" and amp that I will get. Although, I think I'll have the amp inside the enclosure for the 10" sub...dunno for sure yet. Gotta get it first.

Altech Lansing (spelling?)

I wired it in to the stereo, front speaker, so i could listen to the radio on this new setup. It was great, until I started it up.

Now it sounds like an incar shot of a Peugeot 206 WRC on Speed TV. it sounds cool...but gets annoying after while. So i just unplug the stereo audio connector.

And more miles now...1200. No problems still...yet.

EDIT: 1,000TH POST!

Squeel when engine running? Sounds like a ground loop. I have that when I use a DC/DC adapter for my scanner. (I have the output of my scanner running into the line in on my EQ/Booster amps.) Installed a ground loop isolator (Wal-Mart's got one for $13) and it's gone. Justa thought.

Ok, for the stereo stuff first, I got that ground loop isolator, will be instslled soon, gotta test a few places to put it first...

Due to the fact that I neglected to re-secure the air flow meter cover...I've lost two of them. The covers that is. On a vary vary rainy wet day, going down the interstate at 70 mph, I lost power, and when power was aplied, it felt as though a wheel was gonna fall off. Upon stopping and looking around under the car and under hood, thinking it was a messed up axel...i look at the AFM to see it very wet. engine no respond well to any type of throttle inputs. So after drying off the electris board and securing a shp rag, mostly clean, over it to keep the water out, Im on my way again. It happens once more on the way home, but no rain on that occasion.

Since then, it seems little jittery, and surging at lower gears and speeds, but not during acceleration. By running an extended time and under wet conditions, I believe I have almost effectily ruined this afm. No worrys, I've got 3 more. I plan on taking the cover from another one, and secure it perminatly to the other "tuned" AFM that I have, and install it for the time being. Re-build the one I've worked with for so long, and make either a removable cover that is waterproof, or "tune" it a tad more, and make the cover perminant. Then the other one woudl be for emmissions. Yes, I have to restore the settings on the AFM to close to stock to lean it out. Me thinks my O2 sensor my not be working properly.

Other than that...I've resolved to figure out why my tranny wont shift well in 1st and 2nd, and the clutch wating to grad at idle...see other post about that...Im still working on where to put the other two speakers. Me thinks I take out factory front, and put them there. Engineering efforts required for that! :D

Due to it being 20 deg outside, and its 4 AM, I dont know/remember how many miles are on it now. I'll get that when its daylight and a tad warmer.

Yes, 1500 miles. Crossed that boarder this morning. I have ordered an 8" sub by Pioneer, and have the enclusure already, a premade one from wally world. Total cost is about $45 for both. I will be installing the GLI now.

Installed a "new" AFM, I "tuned" this one, and kept it clean, then sealed it up really good. Works perfect.

I added some Hi-Tach oil stabilizer to the tranny...seems to help some...

Again, no problems with the engine its self. I will keep ya'll updated!

calebz: Mine is not Mass Air Flow (MAF). I have the old flapper door syle. I call it AFM, for Air Flow meter. Maybe I should change the name...FDSAFM. There we go!

Did I email you about the stereo stuff? I dont rember either!
