First lifted run (PICS)

So it finally stopped raining here in arid western CO, so I got to take the Roo on it's first real test.

Since I don't even have a spare yet, I took it a little easy (read: throttled up all the big lines) and only went in a mile or so and back. The pics are from when the trail was tame such that I could trust the P-brake and get out. Or I could even open my doors for that matter... so this is the easy stuff.

Everythings is from the Tabaguache Trail, about 2 miles from my apartment.

Most of the dirt is from driving around in a flash flood on Sunday, on a sandy trail. This trail turns to glue when it gets wet, so I hadta wait for some sun.

The dog drives good:

Looks good!
Looks cool!
Thanks!

What size tires are you running?

How's the gearing for climbs?

225/70/14, so like 26.5-27 ish. They're real friggin wide, though.

Gearing was good, some sections are REAL steep, the Roo just chugged up it. It did stall halfway up a big scary rock move, and lit up the clutch getting going again. But that was my fault really; more gas initially and I would been fine.

The roo did everything with ease, only scraped bottom a lil bit (again, my fault) although I've seen Jeeps rolled up there. These cars are friggin incredible!

I also passed a lifted jeep on 33"s on the way out (he was slow) and he gave me the big :headbang:. Cool!

Train the dog to be your spotter for the trail rides.
Right, he'd be off chasin' wabbits when I needed him.

Only 225/70 R14? Dang man they look like my 235/75 R15 on film there!

As for climbing with big tires... it works fine. I climb VERY steap stuff with 235/75 R15s and those are just about 29" tall. Once you are in 4lo its all good. ;)

They may be bigger than 27", that's just what the calculator said. $45 @ Walmart!!!

Yeah, it was no big deal. I can still BARELY do 70 on the highway, too.

LOL good old Wal-Mart... I'm running the $50 Liberator All Terrains from Wal-Mart right now
Same here, since there 14s they're 3 or 4 bucks cheaper.

The kids [mounting the tires] at wall-mart didn't know what a Peugot was, I think the lion on the center caps threw them a little bit - they thought I was putting a/t tires on a Ferrari or something.

The service manager knew what a pug was, but still didn't understand why I wanted these tires.... until he helped me load um into the roo. It all clicked, and he got this big grin on his face....

Maybe I'll bring the Brat and I'll show how to rally that thing!
We can go out to the 18rd OHV area and run the dunes. I've hada hankerin' to do that. Or bring your bike, this car eats up all my time and I don't get to ride enough!

Lemme know if your coming down.

so no troubles in the walmart? lucky you... even with all the schtickers and decals i have on my car that say 4WD they wont mount offroad tires on my car. d*cks.

Thats funny..... I've never heard of such a thing around here. Just get a buddy to help you take your rims over to Walmart in another vehicle and say you are working on a dune buggy and you need some offroad tires..........

Yeah I avoided that whole situation by just bringing in my rims with old tires on it. Then just don't answer any questions about what they are going on. Also don't bable on about how they are going on your Subaru or they might turn down service! As Brushbasher said it can be a liabilty thing and its just company policy... welcome to PC USA :-p
