WJM
For which vehicle? What he said. I do know that the 4WD stuff seems to be a bit more than 2WD...but not by much. I remember at NAPA when I worked there...even WITH my employee discount, they were about $78 a side...2WD or 4WD. My KYB GR2 2wd fronts came from some place online, and w/out any kind of discount, they were $58 each.
calebz
Yeah.. Last time I looked at the GR2, I came up at about $60 per side. That doesn't really seem too unreasonable
mcbrat
the ea81 front struts do not have replaceable cartridges..... I've put a set of these on before. http://www.napaonline.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ExecMacro/NAPAonline/search_results_product_detail.d2w/report?prrfnbr=28506444&prmenbr=5806&usrcommgrpid=84241837 I also have gotten a set for $35 off ebay too. but there's none out there right now. archemitis
sorry bout that, its for my 86 ea82 4x wagon. the ones on there now say kyb, and have the factory height adjustments on them. with my new motor, when i floor it, a wheel almost comes off the ground, and is kinda fishy on the highway. I would personally go to the dealer and get the RX struts. Here are the PNs: 25120GA240 Right side 25120GA250 Left side
Vanislru
I purchased 2 struts today, there were two choices i was offered. $58 CDN each or $105CDN each. both for 86 4wd twagon. I went with the $$$ ones cause they came with a lifetime waranty even for DIY'ers. That's about 45 usd or 87 usd, i think. 2 for 85 americanos sounds pretty good, are they the HD ones? WJM what is the difference between the RX ones and the reg.?
WJM
WJM what is the difference between the RX ones and the reg.? The RX units are the same height as the 4WD ones...but are 2x the bound/rebound as the Non-RX units...makes for a stiffer ride, and MUCHO better handling...as well as making the car feel ALOT more stable. archemitis
i'll be honest, i have had the rears apart to crank in the stock lift, and looks like the shock can be replaced without buying new springs. but on the front, do they not come apart? can i not just replace the bottom part of the strut, just the shock absorber part? the prices i have gotten were 85 a side, so 170 total. i dont have thatmuch money into the car after owning it for 5 years =] kind of an exageration, but not that far off.
