LuckyPistol
I know this sounds crazy (or just me). But just recently, I get into my car, turn the key, and for about 5 seconds NOTHING !!, I then hear what I think is the fuel pump. (It makes a wmmmm, wmmmmm, wmmmm noise under the hood) Still keeping the key turned on, it will finally start. It has a range from 3-8 seconds of silence (other than the fuel pump , I think it is.) Now, I removed the battery cables, cleaned, re-connected. STILL same problem.!!! I know someone has the quick answer to this little mystery. I did a search and could not find a thing as to a pause for ignition or anything. Please help !!! I am afraid the next time i drive it, it won't start. BTW- 1986 auto, Subaru GL 1.8L engine F.I. - Battery guage says Battery is charged fine. Thanks again.
Sweet82
I would have gone with the battery cable theory Now my guess is solenoid or the ignition switch going funny Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

LuckyPistol
WJM, I will trade you a set of connectors for a few female connectors of my own.!! (refering to another thread, hehehe). I am in Gboro depending where ur at. But seriously , I checked the connectors, they seem to be intact, but it's hard to really tell. I pushed, pulled, seem fine, But you know contacts are tricky.... Thanks again for all your help so far everyone. This just seems like someone would DEFINATLY know from these symptons (and you may know WJM, dont take it wrong) Are you definate? Just want to clear this up ASAP. thanks again:)
idosubaru
starter is a good place to look. i'd probably check the grounds first because it's easier and quicker. i've seen this exact problem (like this summer even) with a bad ground wire as well. Actually i still have a heavy gauge wire wrapped around my negative battery cable going to one of the ground points....need to clean that up and use some actual connections. since i added that wire it starts right up.
