mcbrat
I've got a lifted 87 wagon with PS and a weberized ea81 in it. will be used as a daily driver. possibly some dirt roads, but my 82 Brat will be my main off-roader. I was looking for some All Terrains to put on it, for the upcoming snow, and any future use it might see. I didn't really like my BFG MT's on the snow/ice last year, so decided to go with AT's. after looking at the Liberators, Kumhos, and various others, including sizes available for 14" wheels, I have decided on the following I think... in a 27 x 8.50 x
Scoobywagon
Those aren't bad, but I suspect you won't be terribly happy with their performance in snow/ice, either. The close tread pattern will tend to pack the snow (my experience, anyway). Had a set of those (31x10.5-15) on my 85 Suburban 4x4. Good general purpose tires and they worked pretty well in the snow so long as it wasn't very deep (less than 3-4 inches). I've forgotten what I replaced them with, so I guess I really don't have a good alternative for you....guess I'll shut up now!
MSSLGECKO
What is the pricing on those? I'm looking at the Liberators
Snowman
I would take a look at the BFG All-Terrains. They're a darn good all-around tire. I swap out for snow tires in the winter, but I know lots of people that run those year round with pretty good luck. One guy has a set on his snowplow truck. mcbrat
I've had the BFG all-terrains before, but not looking to spend that much... I may end up going with the Liberators now, or just putting my MT's on it for the winter..... the duelers were (for 5) mounted, balanced, road hazard, stems, etc... $556 so the liberators are much cheaper...... northguy
I picked up a set of Coopers for a bit over 3 bills. Good tires.
archemitis
i hear mud terrains are as bad as it gets for winter driving =/ never driven them myself. i love the bfg ats in the snow. those duelers are great tires, and they last a long time. the only thing i noticed with those, on my buddys rig, is that they dont clean themselves out as nice as the bfgs, between the treads, but they always look muddy, which is kinda cool. not chunks, just not clean like bfg! =] i love tires
ezapar
#2 Cooper Discoverer SST radials. 205/75/14 (25.5)Off road **** On road **** Tread life **** Price*** The off road grip is awesome. The tread is sufficiently spaced for good traction in most conditions. They suffer a little in deeper mud. The limited side wall traction makes it difficult to get out of a muddy rut. Deflated a little, they go thru rocky trails like nothing doing. I don't believe we've punctured one yet. In my opinion, they are superior in the snow. The tread pattern is well designed for snow. On road they are pretty quiet for an offroad tire. The smaller size I chose allows for much better torque, resulting in a feeling of more power. Hills are easier to climb, freeway speed is easier to keep. White lettering is optional. Sipe 'em, I bet they'd be awesome!!
