richard_donovan
i'm replacing the clutch on my wagon after a good floggin session wiht 4 of my friends who had never driven manual cars before... and i showed them on my rally cross corse i have a clutch and flywheel from another engine (same thing ea81) and it has less than 2 miles on it. i was wondering if the fly wheel is neutrally balanced so that it can be put on another engines crank in any position.??? the fly wheel is actually off a turbo ea81 and is going on a SPFI engine.... i will be doing the swap this weekend so if i don't hear back i'll just do it in the same position on the new motor as the old. oh yeah i know there are timing marks on the flywheel but do i really need them lined up?? carfreak85
There are no flywheels on EA81 turbo cars because they were all automatics. You also need to be weary about the years of the cars because the flywheels got bigger after a certain point.
richard_donovan
my bad ,typo. should read EA82 :-\ from a '86 EA82T ( i think thats the year ) to the '89 SPFI thanks for pointing that out. i love this forum!!! everyone is actually nice, and helpful. richard
NorthWet
Pretty sure that crankshaft/rods/pistons are balanced separately from flywheel. Shouldn't need to rebalance just 'cuz you changed the flywheel. I am certain that the flywheel only goes on one way... mount bolts are not evenly spaced.
