archemitis
can i put xt6 sway bars on my 86 4x hatch? are they too wide? will i have to drill for the rear one? thanks for any help.
baccaruda
from what i understand the rear one either requires special brackets, or swapped in EA82 control arms (w/ brackets) which in turn requires bending the rear bar a little. I just grabbed the rear control arms and sway bar (20mm!) from an XT6 i was cleaning out, for my brat..
Qman
The XT6 bar may be too stiff. I installed the bar off of a GL10 onto my Brat. I had to weld the brackets from the GL10's rear lower control arms onto the Brat's arms. You will also have to cut some off of the ends(both sides to keep it even) to fit between the backing plates. baccaruda
thanks Ken, I forgot about trimming the sides. I'll admit I've wondered about the stiffness of the 20mm bar on a lightweight Brat.. maybe I'll sell the 20mm bar and get a GL10 bar... I would rather put in EA82 rear control arms though as i don't have a welder.. does anyone know how much the bar needs to be bent?
Qman
I didn't have to bend mine. But I installed the brackets and welded them where they fit best.
