torxxx
my buddy has a SPFI 88 wagon. Starting the car up, it runs on high idle, and then after the high idle turns off the car dies. we changed the high idle selinoid, the plugs and disty cap, fuel filter. I'm wondering if its a fuel pump problem. anyone have any ideas
86subaru
have you checked the timming ? because my 88 dl d/r spfi wagon did the same thing , we bumped the timming from .20 to .22 and it runs great now , under the hood it even says + or - , 2 degrees ,just my .
MorganM
If you suspect the fuel pump try listening to it. It's up behind the rear main crossmember on the passangers side. See if the pump dies... then the engine dies. Since it doesnt die untill its warmed up maybe its the water temp sensor? Computer needs that to idle properly when warmed up. Also might be a severe vacume leak. They can cause poor idle or stalling.
torxxx
its wierd. the fuel pump comes on as the car dies, and then it runs for like 4 seconds after the car has died. The pump doesnt turn on when you first turn the key.. thats what made me wonder about it

civilpd
Try a 10 or 12 mm wrench on the cable to idle it down and open the air filter so it can get more air.
