As for the Brat I agree with all of your opinions. The $900 Brat in the paper was gone within the first day it was listed. Sooooo... I'm still not decided. 800lb is not a lot considering I weigh 250 and I have to lug my big rump roast along with building material at 5200 foot elevation which kills these ea81’s. I bought about 18-19 pieces of 5/8 in. pieces of drywall (sheets are 4x8) and I hauled as many as I could fit in the bed of my BRAT which was I think 14 (No less than 12 though) and it was squatting some but worked just great. You should see the amazement in people's eyes when they think a BRAT is a little wussy truck like a nissan or something and they see someone actually using it like a truck. It's a workhorse if you need it to be. Of course on the flip side, if your torsion bar breaks, that sucks too. Been there, done that also. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I won the black one with the wierd stripes on the side in connecticut(on ebay) that had rust on "the rocker panels" But after driving the 5 hour drive I was real amused to find out that when he said "rocker panels" he meant the whole entire car. The bed had huge holes, the floor was missing in parts and u could see the road through the floor. Man, I thought I finally got me a brat too.ah well, someday. Seahag1978 Posted October 11, 2004 Share Posted October 11, 2004 Back in the day, when my first '78 Brat was only 5 or 6 years old, I hauled 4 adults and a dishwasher... she insisted on being dropped into 4WD, the front wheels were a bit skittish pulling alone... same scene hauling 30 patio blocks... two adults up front... on flat road with a speed limit of 35 max in-town. stngllhm Posted October 11, 2004 Share Posted October 11, 2004 i had an 84 gl wagon(yea i know it is not brat) i was pulling behind my 24 69 class A moter home well on the though IL the tranny decided to go out i was able to almost get it off the free-way well i was part way up an exit ramp and the tranny wouldn't pull any more. so i unhooked my car pulled it around front and hooked up the chain. put her in 4-lo reved the engine up and let out the clutch wheel spinin i couldn't believe it but it started movin once i got onto level ground i got up tp 40mph i was proud of my little car finnaly gave the car away about 2 months ago she still ran but i went though 3 trannys and 5 engines since this experence it was tiime to go Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
