nkx
skip did a custom jobbie on his gl-10. i dont remember exactly all of what it involved, but i think he said he cut and rewelded the shifter at a different angle. it made a nice difference in the way the shifter felt. as far as the bushing, all i can think of is a new OEM one. Tachometer
Cusco probably makes some hyper expensive shifter bushings that would most probably be nearly impossible to find...but I doubt it. Pull out a stock one, take extensive measurments and have www.emachineshop.com make you a new set out of some harder rubber!
subaru_styles
i believe for the short shift you have to cut and re-wel the fulcrum(sp?) point higher up on the stick
Skip
SS has the correct idea. Plus some heating and bending of the control rod. I have one in my wagon made for me by Bythe sea. I have photo documention on the process. But this picture tells the story. Unit on the left is the modified shifter. Modded rod is on the bottom. Note: Some minor sheet metal bending of the front of the tunnel opening may be required. Factory bushings when tight work great. Hope this helps
subyrally
hmmm, very cool. i might try to get a shifter assembly from the junk yard and then have taht one modified. i wonder if the bushings for the rx are anything like the ones for the wrx. oddcomp
for bushing woe's i been kicking around the idea of having someone make up a set or a few sets out of uhmw <tough as hell self lubricating nylon type stuff> i belive someone made some suspension bushings with the stuff so shifter bushing duty would be easy also thought of sealed ball bearings
erik litchy
that really isnt a good application for ball bearings. delrin or even polyurethane is a better choice.
