Cold idle on carbed ea82?

Hello again,

What is the correct idle speed on a totally cold carbed ea82?

My runs around 2200 rpm, I think that's more than enough... Where/how can I set it to be normal? The hot idle is perfect (about 750-800 rpm).

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Alf

the no choke cold idle is about 700rpm

the choke is a multi step system

floor once or twice depending on temp to set choke

start

allow to run smooth, about 2,000 rpm

gently tap gas pedal

should be about 1,000 to 1,500 rpm

after running smooth to about 2,000 rpm, accelerate to 3,000 rpm

let go and it should idle 700-1,000 rpm

works like a charm!

This was totally new for me, thanks! :)

I thought there's only one step: if it's cold, then floor once, and that's all. So, if there's very cold out there, I should floor twice before starting?

The rest I understand. :D

my 86 gl wagon idles up to almost 4 grand during the high idle. You also gotta watch that the high idle doesnt get ahead of the temperature outside.

it was -20 F this am, and I started my car. 45 seconds after it started, it reved itself to 4 grand. BAD on a cold engine
