northguy
Which board member is it that offers the interior trim package for a 4 to 5 spd d/r conversion? Is it Bratsrus? And what all is included, and the price?
mcbrat
yes, it's Jerry (Bratsrus). it's actually the stuff you don't see that he does. he modifies the linkage and crossmember, and some other stuff I think. This allows you to use your stock shifters and stock console pieces. last I saw it was $100 but that was a while back.....
northguy
Thanks Mick, I'll PM him to see what the current status is.
84SOOB
Both edrach and I have Jerry's linkage kit for our 5-sp conversions and it works very slick, it will allow you to retain your original console pieces. Big thumbs up to Jerry for coming up with the kit.--Brian
Oregonboy1
I want one of these...Northguy, did you get any more info from Jerry?
richierich
I an the next in line to get one, already put my order in . My tranny is fubar'd, but I only drive 1.5 miles to work everyday. The only other thing you will need is the driveline lengthened. Any driveline shop can do that for you. There are core parts needed, might be able to help you both out with those, long as I get mine back when your done. The core parts I believe are: shifter rod, and the motor mounts. Both of those have to be adapted to fit the new transmission.
northguy
Jerry (bratsrus1) pmed me and gave me the scoop. His kit sounds like a great deal and I plan to do it, but have one other question: can you use a driveline from an ea 82 instead of lengthening the Brat driveline? richierich
From what I have heard, yes you can. But if you do you have to weld in a mount for the carrier bearing mounted in the center of the 85 and newer driveline. My father and I were discussing this, and he thought that the guys using there vehicles for off-road would be interested in doing that since it is more stable and less likely to have vibrations. I said it was not a big deal since it is only a few inches longer and that my vehicle is used for street use.
mcbrat
I have a one piece in my 82 with the 5" lift. I have enough vibration from the motor with the urethane motor and tranny mounts, that I couldn't tell if I had a driveshaft vibration
northguy
I'm picking up a driveline from an ea82 today for free, so that gives me an excuse to go buy a welder and a big grinder.
