Everette Pull a Part update

Recommended Posts

I would have thought it was a '90 also, except the vin plate in the door column listed the manufacture date of 2/89; it might be I mis-read it and it should have been 12/89 but I really don't think so. Doesn't make much difference with 231K on the odo.

Correct me if I am wrong but didn't the legacy come out in 90?

There are a few 89 Model year Legacy's out there. They have some subtle differences including wheel covers that look more like Old gen having chrome trim rings and a center cap, weird grill, non color matched front bumpers and probably more.

The Legacy was introduced to the world in 89, but not offically to the US until 90, I'm wondering if this might have been a Canadian import.

PS: Ed I never get tired of your updates.

I thought the ones with black bumpers were the 90 base models. I bet all the ones with black bumpers have roll up windows and no air conditioning. Then in 91 they decide they were ugly and so they added the painted bumpers. In the 89 Subaru line up, they do not show a Legacy. They usually start building in April or May (4/89 or 5/89) for the next year, but maybe they started early.

I've seen an '89 (someone parked it in front of my house a couple of months ago) -- the area above the rear license plate (on the tailgate) looks different, too -- did '90 Legacys have the "Legacy" hunk of plastic running across the tailgate like my '92? The '89 didn't have it (plus it had the gray bumpers).

If I remember correctly, it did have the Legacy "hunk" of plastic running across the back. I did manage to salvage the support pistons of this one; first set I've seen that actually picked up the tailgate under their own power once it was hiked half way up. They certainly weren't original and mine have about a year left before I'll need to replace them.
