jakl
Hi folks, my first post. Thanks to this site I already avoided a '97 2.5L purchase. My question concerns 2.2L engines - are all years okay? I'm considering a '98 2.2L Legacy - any issues I should be aware of? Also located two '95 2.2L's. All three have low miles. Thanks for your help... Cheers, jakl
northguy
I own 2 lagacies - a 93 and a 96, both 2.2's. They bothhave been powerful, steady runners with only minor problems. The 96 had an alternator problem that was later recalled - SOA covered the replacement cost 2 years after the replacement, and it also had an oil journal get clogged. It is very close to 190 k on the clock. The 93 was purchased used and has presented no problems. Bought it with 86k and it now has 125k. Both good vehicles. coloradosubarules
I have a 90 wagon with the 2.2 and 240K on the clock. Runs like a scalded cat. I wish I had a driveway full of 2.2 powered vehicles.
rcousins
My wife has had two Legacy wagons with the 2.2 engine. Both used on her mail route with a lot of stop-start, dirt roads, blasting through snow drifts (most of the time ) and just all around rough wear. They performed like a champ! We just went thru a minor blizzard this evening in the '99 Legacy wagon and it sure gives a great sense of security. I have a 90 wagon with the 2.2 and 240K on the clock. Runs like a scalded cat. I wish I had a driveway full of 2.2 powered vehicles.
