lastchance
Hey Guys, I installed the Greddy Turbo Timer in my 1984 turbo wagon and can't get it to work right! The starter GRINDS when I turn my key to remove it when the turbo timer is on! Here's a link for you guys to check out (it's the installation manual) so you can get up to speed on what I'm talkin about here. Fast internet connection... http://www.greddy.com/technical/pdf/GReddyTT.pdf Slow internet connection... http://www.greddy.com/technical/turbotimer/turbotimermanualB.html Here is a reply from Chris at Greddy USA: "It is quite possible that you have connected the ACC line to one giving power to the START of the ignition. Try finding another ACC line. It (BLUE wire) should be one that gives 12V when in the ACC position but then drops volt once in the IGN ON position. The GREEN wire should be connected to the IGN ON that does NOT drop voltage." So...I've tried 2 different wire combinations and they've both failed (I still get the starter making a grinding sound) This combination I get a grinding sound when the key is turned from the START to the ACC position: TT Blue-------Car - Black/Yellow TT Red-------Car - White TT Green----Car - Black This combination I get a grinding sound when the key is turned from the ACC to the OFF position: TT Blue------Car - Blue TT Red-------Car - White TT Green----Car - Black So in my SUCK O RAMA Haynes manual there's a small diagram that shows what each of the ignition wires do...Here's a makeshift diagram I made that's a copy of the diagram in the Haynes manual: http://www.usmb.net/gallery/Daniels-1984-Subaru-Turbo-Wagon/Ignition_Wires?full=1 So...After all that crap...Hopefully one of you guys can help me...Right??? :D As always guys...Thanks for the help, Dan
lastchance
Any help??? :boohoo: I was thinking I could possibly just connect the 12v constant and just the one ignition wire, eliminating the accessory power wire. So...I wonder if that would work... Hmmm :cornfuzz: :cornfuzz: :cornfuzz: :cornfuzz:
Skip
Dan, did you try the last connection set up I emailed you?
lastchance
Skip, That's the connection I'm going to try Wednesday afternoon after I get outta work. That's just the Ignition and the 12v constant set up...I hope it will work. I figure with that set up...I will get power from the 12v constant and the engine to stay running from the Ingition wire...Like I was thinking, eliminating the need for the Accesory wire hookup. I believe this way I can just turn the TT off and on at will where as connecting the Accessory wire will make the TT come on automatically when the car is in ACC or START...RIGHT??? Thanks again, Dan
Skip
Dan, mine is connected tot theconstant (read non switched) hot wire. Mine is an HKS but they should be similar. And yes it should come on automaticly and NOT come on in the acc. position. I do turn mine off after a short run or when I'm doing some testing
carfreak85
Did anyone ever get this figured out? I've got mine intalled, but not wired yet. Which wires for the ignition do I need to tap into?
hooziewhatsit
Did anyone ever get this figured out? I've got mine intalled, but not wired yet. Which wires for the ignition do I need to tap into? I personally wouldn't rely on the colors from a haynes or FSM. I'd recommend getting a DMM, and testing the individual wires to find the constant 12v, starter, ACC, etc. -Dave
The Scooby
on the greddy read my the wire colors and i can tell you where they go. i know 2 of them are 12 switched, the black is ground then the red i belive is 12 constant. i think it was the blue and green wire into the same wire as a 12 switched. thats how i installed them on WRX's and the like when i worked at the performance shop. carfreak85
I'm not even sure which wires do what on my TT, but I found a really nice ground, e-brake and a switched power. I'm not sure if I can use the power signal because it only gets a signal in the ON position, not ACC. Plus, the translated version of the Blitz installation manual is very short and I'm sure something must have skipped the translation.
