spinsirs
i was told when i bought my 79 brat that it had a e81 and a dual range transmission put into it. the 4wd locks into 2 places so im pretty sure it has dual range but when i went to the junk yard to get a newer carb they were all to big even from a 1987. if i do have a e71 where would i look to find a better performing carb? thanks in advacnce! TheSubaruJunkie
Look on the front of your engine block for either EA71 or EA81 stamped into it. It should be near the passenger side head. There are two types of EA81 carbs. Hitachi two barrel, and Carter-Weber one barrel. There are also Weber DGV 32/36 carbs that are an upgrade for the EA81. Might be too much carb if you have a EA71 however. -Brian

swiftt
I'm running a Weber on an EA71 too. I had to jet the secondary circuit leaner than what it came out of the box and advance the timing 2* but it runs well.
