Recommended Posts

Here's the most incredible opportunity for me yet. Please see what you guys can do to load up my '73 in Moxee with some goodies.Stuff that thang!!!

Regardless of my list, please let me know of any parts from this era you may be discarding, selling cheap,or know of that you might handle for a small donation.

What I'd like:

any sheel metal from '72-79 Stage I or Stage II

axles

FWD manual tranny from '72-77

fuel pumps

alternators and volt. reg's.

solid steering wheels-no cracks

any good interior parts,we need a '75 2wd shifter console for WagonsOnly in black......

brake and wheel parts

Probably not thinking of something because of my excitement.I'm like a little kid right now. Many thanks to Pat,both Pat's,but NorthWet Pat especially at this time.Let's hope you can pull this off.If not I won't cry too much. :)

I really think this is going to make a lot of people super happy if it all goes down.Butter Pat's roll!!! I know I am. ;) I figure WTF,I'm going to shell out a good $900 even at the lowest price where I'd need to still pick it up over an hour + away from me.Bless this man for even considering this incredible journey. :headbang: He makes a few stops, meets some board members, everybody makes exchanges, life is good.....life is GOOD!!!

Bravo! Good for you Paul! Remember, send him this way and I'll feed him.

Good God in heaven, after going across the country you want to send him through Boston??? (trembling if fear).Well, only AFTER he's dropped off my car. All those one way streets and crazy drivers.....yikes!

I will indeed offer up a wicked party for the night he arrives.Anyone within driving distance should attend.I'm definitely scoring this fellow a serious meal and whatever beer, etc. he chooses.I'd be more than happy to make it a big night with a stack of pizzas or Sushi from the gas station. :slobber::lol:

Basically he's willing to do this and accept even less than I offered. :headbang: I'll do all I can to make it up in the best meal I can give the guy, etc.I'm more than happy to foot the bill for a nice dinner, whatever it takes.Hibachi table?Sushi bar,the real one,Steak house, the best pizza on the planet, excellent Indian food, seafood, you name it we've got it here and GOOD.Night in the City(NYC)?I can probably do that too but I'd be pushing it a little.

Did I mention that I'm all tingly???? :D

I might whip up a serious white seafood lasagna to beat the band.Hmmmm, maybe I can borrow my buddy's super grill from outerspace and really go to town at the shop.A real throw down with the east coast folks.

Let's all hold hands and pray for a warm early January and no serious snow along the way. ;)

OK, too lazy to MapQuest right now... where is Chugiak? I am sure that I will have had my fill of snow and ice by the time I get back to my beloved rain and mud. How about a raincheck ( ) for warmer weather?

Well, I am glad that people are getting excited. I had hoped to do this a little earlier, and do a "Subie Claus" kinda thing. But timing didn't work for Christmas, or any of its 12 Days. Thought maybe I could do it for Epiphany (the rest of you can look it up), but I wouldn't have made a good "Wise Man bearing gifts from afar"... maybe a Wise Guy, but that would be stretching things.

Hey Paul, don't go too overboard! I'm a simple guy with simple likes, just trying to make the best of what would have been a silly trip if not for your car next door to me. Not often that I can feel good about doing something of questionable judgement. :) I would like to think that any one of us would have done the same thing if we had planned to drive 3000 miles to tow a $200 car back the same 3000 miles.

TTFN!

Pat

Nah... no where near Boston... I wouldn't wish that on anyone! Straight shot on 95N, you kinda slide a bit left of Boston... besides, where's your sense of adventure? LOL!

The outer loop,495,right?that's the extent of my sense of adventure around Beantown. :) Actually,Newbury St. though a yuppie hole,is a decent area.Good shops, easy to get into and the hell out of fast enough.

OK,the real party is going to be down here everyone,so just pack up the car and trek on down.

Looking like he leaves Jan 8th.Probably be here on the 11th or 12th.

Worknight or not I'm doing something exceptional that night. :headbang:

Pat,thanks, but what kind of food do you like?

And just so you know, the car coming this way was $300.So you're making some serious hauls for a whopping $500 worth of Japanese metal and plastic.I bow to you!My personal value of the car has to be over $3000,or it will be when I've installed the interior I have for it and paint it.I grew up with these cars and owned a '76 coupe(GF) and I think I owned a '74 coupe for a while too.We had so many '74-79 Subarus back then it was crazy.

So,what kind of food do you like? :)

...

So,what kind of food do you like? :)

So, I get the impression that you want to know what kind of food I like?

Wide range of likes, just as long as it isn't fancy. Plain 'merican is fine, especially straight off the grill. Indian, Asian (SE Asian or otherwise), Japanese, Mexican, pizza, seafood... whatever. I don't know how to spell capers or balsamic vinagrette, let alone eat them. Doesn't mean that I won't, just kind of wasted on me. At home I grill and/or do pasta dishes, jasmine rice, potatoes, 'nutin fancy. On the road I eat off of the value meal or Denny's breakfasts.

I'm a "cheap date". :) (No jokes, oddcomp!)

so if Pat is running to Mudrats, I know Andrew is taking some parts down there to his shop and so then Pat could grab that tranny. Andrew is currently back there for xmas and he'll be coming back out here the beginning of January. I don't quite know the time frame we're looking at but just a heads up! I can call Andrew and let him know to tell John that its for you Paul!

...Just curious, has the Mudrat run been arranged and confirmed?...
I think someone was arranging with mudrat... XSNRG? Can't remember, too few brain cells.

And I was going to give this a bump the other day, but got distrac... OOOHHHH!!! Shiney!!!

..uh, sorry. I was going to type some inane drivvel about remembering that this is about the '73 and your buddies, not the delivery boy. This is a car party, so do car party food and stuff.

Soon, very soon!!! Looks like I get to borrow a 4x4 Explorer for the trip. WOOT! A radio! :)
