85 Gl
my diff in me 85 gl 4wd d/r looks like it has a locked diff in the rear when i turn on the drive way i can hear it jumping on the innner wheel that i am turning i put one side on the jack and put it in 4wd and i could only turn the wheel a few inches then it would start driving the other side, so do these have locked diff
Qman
Jack the entire rear end off the ground and then spin the wheel. If the opposite side spins the same direction it is a limited slip. If it spins the other way it is open.

Skip
you should go back and read Qman's post more closely. You have an open rear diff but a locked center diff this is what is causing the jumping, NOT the rear diff. You brothers truck no doubt has an open center differential.
