soobscript
I have a 1988 RX that needs new brakes. EA82T, Full-time AWD, four-wheel discs. I am trying to get pads and rotors for front and rear. Dealer is very expensive. Most parts stores do not list RX in their applications. The ones that do have no parts available. I have looked through 10 pages of search results with no luck. I have the 1970-1988 Chilton's guide and the Haynes 1600 & 1800 1980-1994 guide. Both have been useless to me so far. Where can I find specs? What is interchangeable with my RX? (DL, GL, XT, Honda?) Anyone have tried-and-true part numbers? Thanks. --Ed
JWX
umm any front brakes from a 4wd EA82 will work, along with the rear disk parts (but those will be turbos only)
WJM
ANY 2wd or 4WD ea82 powered subaru front brakes will work. they are ALL the SAME from 85 to 94, even XT. XT6...no. Same or rear as long as they are disc brakes. GL-10 and RX's had rear discs as standard....unles you've got an oddball GL-10 like JWX.
JWX
NOOO! only turbos had rear disks, and my GL-10 is not a turbo. I will say this till somebody shows me different.

Some non turbo XT's had discs, and ALL GL-10s are SUPPOSED to have discs.
JWX
I disagree I'll give you the XTs as those had a lot of odd options aval to them. but I will still say that the leones only had rear disks on turbos [/hijack]
TheSubaruJunkie
Just use a '87 XT as your search querey. Your parts store should be able to get rotors for them. Goto Napa, cause if they dont have it they'll order it for you, and they dont employ idiots at Napa like they do Kragen and Pep Boys. -Brian
soobscript
So an 87 XT (not XT-6) will work for pads and rotors, front and rear? I live pretty close to the NAPA warehouse in Ohio, they have everything... But the last time I was there the guy that helped me was a bigger idiot than anyone I've had at Advance or AutoZone (except for the 15-year-old trainee). oh yeah.... HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Ed: The front pads are standard items at most Advance stores in C-Bus. Just refer to "GL" when you talk to the clerk. The rears are a little harder to come by but the Autozone store in Pickerington had a set last time I checked for under $20. If they are out, try the Reynoldsburgh store on E Main St. Also, I know Hatfield's has a set of rears (the one's that I never picked up). I live on the East side so maybe we can meet up sometime.
