2000 OB rear washer fluid reservoir?

Recommended Posts

Hi, this is my first post. First, may I say how impressed I am by this site. It's like having a Subaru mechanic in the family.

I bought a 2000 Outback in August. My first Subaru! I live in Ontario, about an hour northwest of Toronto.

My question is: Is there a washer fluid reservoir in the rear? I didn't find any reference to a rear reservoir in the owners manual, but thought I should find out before I run out of fluid.

Thank you,

Hattie

All except my 90 Loyale....?
And my 92 Legacy wagon. . .

Actually the Coupes sedans and wagons from 85 to 96 all had a seperate rear washer resivoir, except the Justy). On my Legacy wagon it is on the left hand side under the liftgate, with a cap in the frame to make filling easy. . . 90 to 96 Legacies, you can open the door that hides the jack (on the left side of the cargo area) and you can see the resivoir to check the level.

All of the Subaru's use the SAME tank for front and rear washers.

My 93 Legacy Wagon has a seperate reservior in the rear also. It's on the driver's side, the filler is under the lift gate. The actual reservior takes up most of the cubby hole in the driver's side cargo area. My 01 has it in the front, so there is another cubby hole in the rear. The front reservoir has 2 stages, the rear has it's own pump and is set higher than the front's pump. That is so the front get's the last of the fluid... Also serves as a reminder that you are getting low... If the rear has no fluid, the front is soon to follow.

The 01's reservoir was the first one I've ever had that took a full gallon when it was empty !!! Not sure about the 93...
