sheppie62
Has anyone made one of these fit in an EA-82?
MorganM
I'll send you one and you can be the first okay? Got a Volvo 740's IC and a SAAB 900's IC just wasting space.
calebz
the volvo 7xx intercooler is a beast (I have a 740T and 760T) I have no idea where you would put one in a subaru
subyrally
one could posibly do it like subarubrat did his radiator, attach it to the hood some how. then cut out above it and mount vents or louvers to direct air flow down into the hood or pull air out the hood. just a thought though, i might snag one if i go to the yard today. sheppie62
It was half price day at "Pick a Part" so was only $18.00. Looks like it could fit in front of the radiator, with some modification. Can the plastic ends be modified? Can plastic be welded? My car is no beauty just a beater rally car! MorganM
I saw a pic on here of one mounted. Looked like they cut out where your spare tire goes and set it in front of the fire wall. Then packed snow around it LOL. Might have been 'do it sideways' on an ice racer? oh another thing I noticed about that setup was the minimal plumbing. Only a short tube from the compressor housing to the IC and then from the IC a short tube right to the TB.
TheSubaruJunkie
I grabbed a Volvo IC from the junkyard, and fitted it to the Legacy cause i wanted to use one on my turbo legacy. The thing was as large as the radiator on the legacy... ...good luck fitting it to a EA82. I suggest you use something like the Saab 900 IC. -Brian
Do It Sidewayz
nope.. wasn't me with the Volvo intercooler I've got a Supra Intercooler which is just about done now. I'm just in the process of mounting the VF-11 Turbo and then i'll finish off the Intake piping.. It looks like i'll prolly have around 3 inches of pipe into the I/C, and about 12 inches out. Should work really well.
carfreak85
Here is that pic, and by the way the "snow" was some sort of insulation.

Lol.. yeah.. were you to try to stand a volvo IC up in there like that, you wouldn't be able to see out of the windshield. The volvo radiator is larger than ours.. and the IC is even bigger than that.. I always laugh when I hear the volvo guys bitching about their 'wimpy intercoolers'
