sublute
Hello, I'm a long time lurker but first time poster. I'm about to replace the clutch in my 92 4WD Loyale. What are your opinions of aftermarket vs OEM clutches? I'm not looking for super performance, but I don't want to replace prematurely or have the flywheel messed up by a bad clutch. I'm looking at a Beck Arnley made clutch kit. Anybody have any opinion on these? This is a fantastic forum and has helped me greatly with my upkeep of the Subaru! Thanks every Subaru nut out there! 71 FF1 SW 79 DL SW 79 DL SW 81 GL SW 84 hatchback GL 84 hatchback GL 89 RS Justy 4WD 87 Loyale SW 2WD 92 Loyale SW 4WD Yup, I'm the frying pan calling the kettle black.... thanks, David Thanks,
WJM
the best thing for you if you are not going to be doing serious off roading or performance driving..aka just basic day to day driving is the OE kit. when I get back from lunch I will quote you a price on a complete 'everything you will need' kit for it. torxxx
I got 6 years out of a napa clutch. and thats with 3 years of ice racing, and pretty much fully out rallying every time I drive my car. Carquest or Napa have pretty good priced clutches. the last one I bought from them was 135 bucks for the whole kit. PP/disc/pilot bearing If you wanted a good one, bring in a burned clutch to a drivetrain shop and have them remanfacture the clutch with kevlar pads. I think I was quoted 150 for a kevlar disc. I've never used one, but I've heard only good things about them
sublute
Thanks for the replies. I picked up the Beck Arnley clutch kit on eBay yesterday. It came to 115 including shipping. I guess I'll find out how long it'll last. I have to finish getting the other engine ready to put in. I plan on doing it when the weather is a consistant warm... although it is in the mid '60s today!!! I have a question about lifters. I took them out and cleaned them up, I have yet to assemble them. I may have gotten the order screwed up. Am I doomed to have noisey lifters now??? I'll start a new thread for this question David
