distributor question

Recommended Posts

ok i have a 1988 GL EA82T FTAWD, i just did an engine swap on it, my question is the distributor i had in it was out of a 5sp car and the engine is out of an auto, i put the auto dist. in.

is there a differenc between a manual and an auto dist?

are they curved different or anything?

Dave the distributors in the EA82T of your vintage are called crank angle sensors.

5sp and automatics are the same.

All timing is handled by the ECU after the initial or static timing is set.

i.e. no advance - mech. or vac.

Yup, I'll second that. Pre 88 they still used vaccum advance, after that it's done by the ECU. So your distributor should have no vaccum connection on it.
